Who should care what a former right wing blogger at OSC who just became a lawyer determines about Jack Smith?

...Paul Ingrassia is Trump's nominee to be Special Counsel of the United States at the agency that is to investigate Jack Smith. His nomination has been held up in committee over his lack of experience and inflammatory remarks, but that hasn't stopped this republican Senate in the past.

His past inflammatory statements, however, about the Special Counsel who prosecuted Trump on two indictments brought by two separate grand juries should disqualify him from using a supposedly 'independent watchdog agency' to investigate Jack Smith.

He's par for the Trump administration which makes the majority of its policy based on accusing Democrats of things the president and his party are either doing or have already been indicted for.

Paul Ingrassia—a former blogger and newly minted lawyer who was admitted to the bar in 2024—is Trump’s pick to lead the Office of Special Counsel.

Ingrassia has called Jack Smith a “disgusting man,” accused him of “election interference,” and said he should be jailed.

ABC News @ABC
BREAKING: The U.S. Office of Special Counsel confirmed Saturday that it has opened an investigation into former Special Counsel Jack Smith and whether he violated the Hatch Act through his criminal investigations into President Donald Trump.

Steve Benen:

___The president was apparently determined to bring the office to heel in his second term, which is why he fired Hampton Dellinger as the head of the independent ethics agency just a couple of weeks after his second inaugural. This touched off a legal fight, which the White House ultimately won, and offered Trump an opportunity to choose a new OSC chief.

Paul Ingrassia ... has publicly advocated for white supremacist and antisemite Nick Fuentes, publishing a Substack titled ‘Free Nick Fuentes’ and writing on X that ‘dissident voices’ such as Fuentes should have a place in conservative politics. He was also part of a legal team representing self-described misogynist influencer Andrew Tate, who has been charged with human trafficking and forming an organized-crime group in Romania, as well as rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking in the United Kingdom. Earlier this year, Ingrassia likened Tate to ‘the embodiment of the ancient ideal of excellence.’

What’s more, as The New York Times reported, Ingrassia also hosted a podcast, called “Right on Point,” and in December 2020, as Trump tried to overturn the results of his election defeat, the podcast posted on Twitter that it was time for outgoing Republican president “to declare martial law and secure his re-election.”

Paul Ingrassia also posted in October 2024, that:

"A separate special committee should be formed immediately to investigate him, press charges, and hold him and his handlers accountable for the untold harms they caused to the integrity of our criminal justice system – starting with the election interference committed by Smith, who is following the marching orders of Merrick Garland, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris, in prosecuting Donald Trump."

...this maga blogger-turned government fox-in-the-henhouse has already made public conclusions about the investigation and prosecution of Trump, and specifically Jack Smith's conduct.

He's clearly not 'independent' or objective, and no one should take the agency he's heading's word about anything.

(edit: I thought the blogger had already been confirmed, but he's still as sure as anyone to eventually get the vote from the republican majority and the job and take over this investigaton.)

Sounds like it's time to start the delay clock. Bury them in motions. Use their own playbook against them. Sue for libel every time they speak.
