Watching Trump's press conference in London

He has a permanent case of diarrhea of the brain and mouth. That, coupled with the fact that his knowledge of the world ended in the late 1950's and everything he knows he learned from watching movies about Alcatraz, makes him a stumbling, blabbering embarrassment to the US.

Can nothing rid us of this fool?

… the question I have is why do so many people fall for his crap?!

Seriously, are so many Americans really that stupid/naive/uninformed that they swallow his garbage?

I think that far too many Americans are seriously uneducated and have little knowledge of the world. They live in their bubbles thinking the U.S.A! is the greatest country on Earth. In the real world, that’s not necessarily true. But they are impervious to reality, I guess.

What a country this has become.

Living with those negative feelings must be a dark life.

George W. Bush got many similar passes. I remember hearing someone I knew describing why they liked W years back. He said nearly verbatim "Everybody's got someone looking out for them. George W. Bush looks out for white people." I'll just call him Clay (because that's his name), who happened to be a millionaire. I think Clay's framing on Bush was how he saw the republican party as a whole. And I know that this framing is as far from unique as you can get when it comes to white voters, and very often, Latino voters. Republicans get the age-old white man's pass in America. They get undue credit, the least amount of blame, and all of the passes.

To this day I appreciate Clay for his honesty.

Yes, but they are not swallowing it in a vacuum.

They have been conditioned for years to believe anything bad about Democrats, and conversely anything good about Republicans. And the GOP did not accomplish that without help from TVangelists and even pastors in churches all over the country. And, you know, that makes a difference. Beliefs about politics may or may not be held as sacred. Beliefs about religion always are sacred.

There is a former evangelical pastor named John Pavlovitz who now writes a Substack column which he calls "The Beautiful Mess." (Not that you need a title to find an author on Substack&gt His church kicked him out for being too Christian (he doesn't say it that way, but it's a fact.) He watched it happen a it happened, up close and personal. At least he wasn't caught by surprise - I'm afraid I was. Spinds as if you were also.

He is hopelessly rooted in yesteryear. I would argue much of it comes from the 1920s in tales he must have learned from Fred. A laissez-faire world where government is evil, sort of an echo of the Trustbusters who got whacked. No surprise that real estate developers (Fred) and brothel owners (Friedrich) wanted the government out of their way.

I thought Starmer this a.m. was a fierce bootlicker -- went way beyond courtesy. And we noted how djt called the king and queen by their "chummy" first names -- and kept referring to his rich friends and how he was a success on TV.

I'm nauseated.

They are basically just pandering to Reform with their insane immigration policies and refusing to tax the fucking billionaires, so instead screwing the poor and middle class.
I can’t vote in the UK yet, but there’s zero chance of me voting for them once I can unless they turn this ship around and stop blaming immigrants and the poor for every problem in the UK.

And it completely ludicrous to want to reopen that place. They’d have to knock all the structures down and start new. Also, the bird population there is insane and the place reeks of bird poop. In addition, it’s an historic site, with a tourist industry wrapped around it. Such stupidity.
