IMHO: He's trying to assuage his terror of jail by detaining others, and GOP is letting him

It's simple psychology. He's gaining control of what terrifies him. This is a lower brain survival mechanism, nothing more.

Likewise, SCOTUS is afraid of losing the make-believe world they previously lived in. Thus, attack lgbtq, gay, mexican, whatever.
