and before long it gets hijacked by someone complaining about some other transgression that isn't being addressed, with accusations that people are being distracted from transgression B by focusing on transgression A. Express outrage about (lately, for example) the Epstein files, and someone will gripe about Gaza being ignored, or gerrymandering, or deportations, or whatever. The thing is, there's plenty of outrage to go around, and nobody can deal with all of it all the time, which doesn't mean we don't care about the outrages we're not talking about at this moment! It only means that we're outraged about this one other thing right now.

expected with this administration -- the "flood the zone with shit" -- phenomenon. The Epstein flood was unexpected, but not surprising. Sometimes catch myself suffering an "outrage overload."
