https://www.theguardian.com/science/2025/may/28/spacex-starship-rocket-launch-9th-test-flight-lost-contactAnother SpaceX Starship prototype broke up over the Indian Ocean on Tuesday, capping the latest bumpy test flight for the rocket central to billionaire Elon Musks dream of colonising Mars.
The biggest and most powerful launch vehicle ever built lifted off at 6.36pm local time from the companys facility near a southern Texas village that earlier this month voted to become a city also named Starbase.
The first signs of trouble emerged when the first-stage Super Heavy booster blew up instead of executing its planned splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico.
A live feed then showed the upper-stage spaceship failing to open its doors to deploy a payload of Starlink satellite simulators.
Though the ship flew farther than on its two previous attempts, it sprang leaks and began spinning out of control as it coasted through space on a suborbital path before re-entering the atmosphere out of control and eventually breaking apart.

I'm confused here. The article starts out talking about the latest Spacex prototype, but then the article appears to end up talking about the Trump administration.

(47,667 posts)Why, he can do the work of thousands of NASA engineers and do it nearly instantaneously. How does he do it? He just knows in his gut when something feels right! Theres no need to do all that math and obsessively check it over and over again. Theres no need for redundant safety systems. A genius, hell tell you. Over and over and over.

(2,547 posts)unless Musk personally accompanies every flight. Any way you slice it, we would be saving a lot of waste, fraud and abuse..

(364 posts)until Muskrat can prove he has a viable product. He can pay for the development work himself.
Hitler would've had Musk executed by now for such failures. Orange Freakenstein better up his game if he's trying to be the second coming of Mini Mustache Adolph.

(24,459 posts)And Starship. The US government uses Falcon. There are no active users of Starship.
The main costumer of SpaceX is SpaceX. The company is a self licking ice cream cone.

He spent the wrong day at college or he would have learned keeping things from doing this requires very expensive development, testing, and expertise.
Hes not the polymath he takes himself to be. The entitled f**k.
