That app is cherry picking old data from OpenSecrets.

Paul Ryan has not run since 2016, for example.

In the last 3 cycles, 2020, 2022, and 2024, the vast majority of contributions from individuals at Urban Outfitters have went to Democratic candidates.

Also, it is problematic to cast blame on entire companies in general for the actions of some of their employees.

I am sorry, but I am going to have to give a hard pass to that app that list, and that video.

Companies are now "individuals." OK, and they are individuals I'd rather not support.

Wed May 28, 2025, 10:05 AM

Most all of the firms have no legal control over what those disparate types do in terms of political support donations when they are off the clock.

As I stated back in 2024, it is problematic to cast blame on entire companies in general for the actions of some of their employees, especially when the firm has other employees of opposing political ideological stances that counterbalance, to varying degrees, employees on the other side.

Beyond all that, the list is just flat out flawed and inaccurate in other ways as well.

It's dodgy at the end of the day, full stop.

that the company consists of individuals (which I take to be stockholders or family or others with an interest), owners, and employees. If ANY of these people are listed under the company banner as contributing to Republicons or Project 2025, I won't support the company. That may be a purist litmus test to you, but I don't accept that I personally should support a "variety of political ideologies." One does NOT cancel the other out IMO. Certainly not now. There are some companies that support no political parties, which seems optimal. REI has certainly had a FAFO moment on the issues--thanks to boycotts. They do work.

We have to have some way to boycott. It is one of the few ways we consumers can speak as a group. What do you suggest we do, since you seem to support only the companies?

The article sounds like bunk but Molson is at least partly an American company now.

From Wikipedia

On 30 October 2019, the Molson Coors Brewing Company announced it would change its name to Molson Coors Beverage Company as a part of a restructuring to take place in 2020.[15] The name change would reflect the company's growing focus on beverages outside of the traditional beer and brewing offerings. Additionally, the company would reorganize its global business units, including Molson Coors Canada, into Molson Coors North America, headquartered in Chicago, and Molson Coors Europe, headquartered in Prague.[16][17]

The app (Goods Unite Us) shows details for the companies they have, (somewhat incomplete, but growing) and you can see if they're neutral, red, or blue. Clicking on a company gives details about whom they supported, and if it was senior leadership, or the company itself.

VP Harris and the trump to cover all there bases.

That always happens, and does not indicate they support one candidate over the other.

Now of course there are some companies exclusively donated to trump, and not to VP Harris, and alternatives should be considered against those companies.

May 28

For example:
https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/hobby-lobby-stores/summary?id=D000051841

They have this disclaimer:

NOTE: "The organization itself did not donate, rather the money came from the organization's individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate family members."

OK so the INDIVIDUAL SHAREHOLDERS, OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, etc contributed to Project 2025's representatives. So what about this statement absolves the company? A company IS it's owners, supporters and managers, RIGHT?

Seems like weasel words to confuse the consumer and thwart a boycott.

I'm going to continue avoiding these companies unless someone has evidence that one or more of these companies did NOT contribute to the party that has wreaked havoc on this nation.
