(Who remains ceremonial Head of State for several Commonwealth countries including Jamaica) flew on a Canadian aircraft to head to Canada for the formal opening of Parliament which is usually done by the Governor General.
He said this is a not so subtle warning to Slobby et al.

(4,584 posts)Sorry, but I still blame her for what happened to Diana. I still think about Diana and she would've loved being a grandmother.

(28,910 posts)As do I. It just frosts me that Camilla gets to be queen. It's just not right.
Diana had to be a virgin, but it was OK for Charles to be an adulterer.

(67,920 posts)she was really used and abused when she was just a kid. I will always remembered that interview she had when she said "there were three of us in our marriage and it was getting a bit crowded." She was just a lost young woman who had great love for her children and needed to protect them. The Queen was such a hard ass, I still get a little pissed when I think of her.

(294,259 posts)Carneys invitation to Charles comes against the backdrop of Donald Trumps repeated threats that the US should annex Canada and make it the 51st state.
But when the king gives the throne speech laying out the new governments goals and its plans to achieve them, he will be tightly constrained by what he can say.
Because we have a constitutional monarchy, the king can only operate inside a box that is defined by parliament because we dont want a king, or any unelected person, affecting policy and laws, said Justin Vovk, a royal historian and author. Any influence the monarch exerts is done through subtlety.

(18,482 posts)... which is, granted, a very low bar indeed. But when one reads how other counties treated their colonies, well, if you had to be one, best to be British.

(23,697 posts)Even if he's a king, Charles distinguishes Canada as a democracy of good people, where freedom of speech and diversity are celebrated and shared. He makes clear the UK and the world are united against fascists like some lardass who lives in the Shite House.
