A Gaza doctor went to work to save lives. Hours later, her children's burned bodies arrived

(CNN — Dr. Alaa al-Najjar left her ten children at home on Friday when she went to work in the emergency room at the Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza.

Hours later, the bodies of seven children - most of them badly burned - arrived at the hospital, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. They were Dr. Najjar’s own children, killed in an Israeli airstrike on her family’s home, Gaza Civil Defense said. The oldest was 12, the youngest just three years old. The bodies of two more children – a 7-month-old and a two-year-old - remained trapped under the rubble as of Saturday morning.

Gaza Civil Defense published graphic video from the scene of the strike. It showed medics lifting an injured man onto a stretcher as other first responders try to extinguish a fire engulfing the house. They recover the charred remains of several children from the debris and wrap them in white sheets.

“Nine of their children were killed: Yahya, Rakan, Raslan, Gebran, Eve, Rival, Sayden, Luqman, and Sidra,” Barsh posted on X. He said her husband was in intensive care.

Nine children killed is the updated toll.

Are there any words left to say?

It is still reported the same way.

The missing are uncounted - and even the dead and buried are not fully tracked- because the capacity to count or track them has been destroyed. One of the many side effects of destroying hospitals.

We will eventually find out the death toll is far greater. You really can't hide or deny a genocide forever.

And the successful demonization and discrediting of UNRWA...

All done to prevent, remove and discredit eyewitnesses.

Oh I can hear the stampede coming... that's ok, this post deserves more eyeballs. Because when 9 children are killed in a family, there is a chance someone, somewhere will stop supporting Israel and say enough is enough, why am I complicit in this?

It allows the IDF to wait for the exaxt moment a "target" enters his home thus ensuring his entire family and neighbours are killed. Oops, the targets were identified using another AI program leading to "mistakes". How effing sadistic is that?

Apparently it's easier and cheaper - they use dumb bombs - than locating a target in the field.

They lost my trust. No more than typists for the IDF and censors on Israel's behalf.

They also banned a documentary about the impact of the war on children. Told from the children's pov. Reason? The narrator is a child of the Minister of Agriculture. But the real reason is the pressure from pro-Israel groups and Israel who, for obvious reasons, hated the documentary.

What indeed? Or proverbially, our grandchildren?

Over 1,400 health care workers killed to date. Not including thousands of members of their families, in a deliberate, systematic targeting of health care workers whose families are considered merely collateral damage.

Hospitals bombed. Pediatric wards filled with maimed and orphaned children. Mothers forced to look at the bodies of their burned, mutilated beyond-recognition children. This mother could not do it

As this doctor in the video says, to hear even air time given to the IDF's claims and justifications that are transparent lies and fabrications contradicted by every human rights organization is just preposterous.

24/7 terror even as they are being starved and maimed.

As she also says, there must be an international force going into Gaza now and all countries, organizations etc that have been complicit must be held to account.

I want to point out also that the fact that the attack occurred shortly after the husband arrived at home could be an indication that Israel's sadistically-named "Where's Daddy" AI was deployed. It is used to make sure any targets are home with their families when the bombings occur. I made a post about this. Whatever the case, both scenarios show a criminal lack of concern for children and civilians.

I also urge everyone to watch this video. It will change you.

but I'd like to thank you for your tenacity and your ability to speak facts to a barrage of talking points having nothing to do with the massive death and destruction. I rarely read anything about Gaza, it is so horrific, but what is harder is having to read what the pro-Israel can do no wrong people say. You are very impressive.

Because the pro-human rights side can use all the help it can get...

But I'll refrain from tooting my own horn though lol.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are very kind and you have made me smile. A good deed and much needed.

Often it's felt like a cry in the wilderness and prompted some very negative emotions. Dismay, frustration, shock, self-doubt, anger, loss of faith. Sorrow mainly. I could not understand why people weren't seeing what I saw so clearly. Now they are beginning to and it honestly brings me no satisfaction. It's too late. The best we can hope for now is a quick end to the slaughter/genocide and the thwarting of the planned ethnic cleansing. But still, it will take decades to try to heal this people. Deep trauma wounds, family killed and everything they knew, remembered, treasured - gone. The same fate that befell another people in yet another bitter irony that goes unrecognized... Why is it so hard to see?
