1. Yet David Brooks hero, Ronald Reagan, was A-OK with apartheid and locking up Mandela.

Brooks is another Republican conservative who refuses to come to grips with the fact that it is his party, his philosophy, his efforts that led to the Trump Administration.

They've traded on exploiting, greed, bigotry, and misogyny to gain votes for decades. They've been pushing for this kind of fascism since the 60s.

Now they are frantically peeing on their own boots trying to wash off the smell of the shit they have been wading in.

The shit hits the fan and they act all innocent and shocked. I am so sick of them.

It’s time for a comprehensive national civic uprising. It’s time for Americans in universities, law, business, nonprofits and the scientific community, and civil servants and beyond to form one coordinated mass movement. Trump is about power. The only way he’s going to be stopped is if he’s confronted by some movement that possesses rival power.

I get frustrated with the focus on all the things David Brooks had wrong in the past and maybe still does. Same with Liz Cheney and other Republicans who are full-throated opponents of Trump and supporters of democracy. They are on the right side of history at least in this. It's time to remember that the enemy of our enemy is our friend, and not keep bashing them endlessly. It wastes precious time and is demoralizing, imo.
