Trump says Samsung and other smartphone manufacturers will also be subject to 25% Apple tariff

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office Friday afternoon, Donald Trump said that he will also target Samsung, which is based in South Korea, and “any other company that makes [ a smartphone?]” with a 25% tariff.

“Or it would not be fair,” he said, adding that the White House will “appropriately have that done by the end of June”.

“When they build their plant here, there’s no tariffs. So they’re going to be building plants here,” he said.

It’s not clear to me whether Krasnov is imposing a 25% tariff on smartphones or something more.

8. Agree. Nobody is moving their manufacturing to the U.S. It is a non starter.

As long as the tariff is 25%, the best option is publish their product’s regular price plus the surcharge for the tariff. Unfortunately that will probably anger Krasnov and cause him to raise the tariff to an unsustainable price. If that happens we could see the sales of new phones stop in the U.S.,causing public anger toward Krasnov.

I expect to be using it for a long time to come. The next one will cost much more.
