“24% tax increase” if the 2017 tax bill expires at the of the year allowing these tax cuts to expire would also create

86,150 would see child tax credit cut in half

The claim that tax hikes are looming for MI-02 residents due to Jason Smith is inaccurate. While Smith is a prominent figure in tax policy, he is actively working to prevent tax increases, particularly those that would impact working families and small businesses, according to the House Ways and Means Committee. He is pushing for tax cuts and other tax provisions that would benefit these groups, as outlined in his "One, Big, Beautiful Bill".

Here's why the claim is misleading:

Smith is a leading voice for tax cuts:
As Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, Smith is instrumental in shaping tax policy. His focus is on reducing taxes for working families, farmers, and small businesses.
He is actively working to prevent tax hikes:
.
Smith has repeatedly stated his commitment to preventing tax increases, particularly those that would negatively impact Main Street businesses and working families.

He is advocating for the "One, Big, Beautiful Bill":
.
This bill, which has passed the House, aims to deliver tax relief and economic growth by extending the 2017 tax cuts and making other tax provisions permanent.

The "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" would benefit MI-02 residents:
.
This bill is designed to help small businesses and families, and many of the provisions would directly benefit residents of MI-02.
Therefore, the statement that tax hikes are looming for MI-02 residents due to Smith is inaccurate and misleading. Smith is actively working to prevent tax increases and is pushing for policies that would benefit residents of MI-02.

Thank you for the link, that is exactly what was sent out. Where are the graphics disputing this? I would write article for local papers but I need some ammunition.
