A reporter just asked Karoline Leavitt if the WH will commit to making a list of the attendees at tonight's crypto dinner public so people can see who's paying for that kind of access to the president.
Her answer: The president is attending it in his personal time.
Oh okay. Never mind that it was reported on MSNBC that the majority of attendees are foreign nationals. They are paying at least a million for access.
But no biggee, people. It's his PERSONAL TIME, okay?

(36,130 posts)So, we can come at The High Maintenance Mussolini or his heirs with charges someday.
I'm sure that nothing would come of it, but watching the two step would be amusing and it's possible that it would be an entirely NOT sympathetic SCOTUS at that point.

(95,003 posts)A president never has "personal time", not really. He's "President" 24/7 or is supposed to be.
The money is buying influence and no matter how many lies they tell to explain it away, that fact won't change.

(28,210 posts)Everyone knows that the Act that Krasnov invoked to deport immigrants was done illegally. Maduro did not work with the drug gang to invade the US. Maduro is fighting against the drug gang. Krasnov just ignores what judges are ruling and there have been 3 judges who are afraid to hold Krasnov lawyers in contempt because they will get death threats.
Sure looks to me like Krasnov is gaining control over the 3 branches of government.
Does Krasnov have control over the military? I mean, will it obey illegal orders? Krasnov is having his dear leader birthday military parade.
What's left? Democrats are spending money on the upcoming election, sure hope we have elections.

(12,246 posts)that have played the biggest role in giving him his power.....The Republicans in the U.S. Senate, The Republicans in the U.S. House,
and the Republicans in the U.S. Supreme Court.
Think for a moment about this:
In a tyranny/dictatorship.....THERE IS NO JUDICIAL BRANCH OR LEGISLATIVE BRANCH........they all will have no further usefulness to Trump or his CABAL.....and will surely be thrown under the bus like everyone else he has ever come in contact with.....
Every last Republican in those three groups, are screwing themselves, and don't have the intelligence to realize it......

Didn't 16 Senate Democrats just vote for a crypto bill?
Krasnov has made 3 billion dollars through Crypto so far this year. Good way to launder money.

(22,157 posts)They have completely different standards for how they treat the two presidents. Polar opposite, really. Scream their heads off at both Joe and Karinne and never interrupt or raise their voices at trump or leavitt. It's so obvious. And yet, one side is lying constantly and deserves to be screamed at.

Presidents don't get personal time, that's part of the job.

(22,920 posts)there are times when Trump is not President. Like, being President is a 9-5 job and you get weekends off.
Theyre saying that he can do whatever he wants when hes on personal time essentially that the oath he took doesnt apply during those periods, because hes not working. Hes on personal time.
I know Presidents get R&R time, but Im pretty sure that doesnt excuse them from their obligations. Theres no exception to high crimes and misdemeanors if they were committed on personal time.

(22,920 posts)If he orders a terrorist to be taken out with a drone, and civilians are killed in the explosion, he cant be prosecuted for murder. But if he shoots his caddy on the golf course, he can be.
And he doesnt get to take a break from his oath of office when hes on personal time. Impeachment is the proper remedy for a criminal president. He cant say yes I engaged in high crimes in misdemeanors, but it was on personal time.
But at the same time, that seems to be the rationale theyre giving to excuse whatever he gets up to at the crypto party
.

(326 posts)the last refuge of a president with damned near total immunity is the newly created personal time for all crime exception. trump could shoot people with no threat of prosecution as long as he does it on his personal time. since most all of his personal time is spent golfing, trump would be wise to commit crimes on golf courses. this problem may also be eliminated by trump simply pardoning himself of all crimes he MAY commit in the future.
