WASHINGTON — The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has unveiled its 2025–2026 theater season, promising a lineup of Broadway blockbusters, magical spectacles and family-friendly favorites. But this year’s announcement arrives under a cloud of political controversy.

Spamalot (Dec. 16, 2025–Jan. 4, 2026): The Tony Award–winning musical comedy returns with its over-the-top humor and classic Monty Python style.
Chicago (Mar. 31–Apr. 5, 2026): The long-running jazz-age musical returns to D.C. with its signature blend of drama, satire, and song.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical (June 16–July 5, 2026): This popular jukebox musical brings glitz, romance, and a high-energy soundtrack back to the Opera House.
Back to the Future: The Musical (July 7–19, 2026): Based on the iconic film, this sci-fi adventure arrives with music by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard.
Mrs. Doubtfire (July 14–Aug. 2, 2026): The comedy-turned-musical tells the story of a father doing whatever it takes to stay connected to his kids.

(Family friendly indeed.)

So what, exactly, is the difference between a man dressing up as a woman and drag?

We don't really have it here where I live, too small here really but you can find it not too far away. This is wonderful. AND so much to choose from for the shows next season and almost for years to come! Maybe I should start playing again, the always need musicians and I do miss it.

in which the character of Cherubino, a teenaged boy, is sung by a woman (mezzo-soprano) dressed as a man, and in which the "boy" Cherubino dresses up as a woman. Double drag!
