The "Horse & Sparrow Big Beautiful Bill" Passed the House Committee Vote

The vote before the entire House is expected this week.

This bill doesn't give tax breaks to billionaires for 10 years, it gives tax breaks to billionaires permanently.

It is being scored for 10 years, and the numbers that some are putting out are way off. This bill will add at least 4.7 trillion dollars to the deficit over 10 years. I heard Chris Murphy say it will add 7 trillion.

The tax cuts for billionaires will happen immediately, and the gashing of the social net will come later so as to give Congressional Magats some cover and time to be reelected and get their stories straight.

This is a horrible bill, once the poor and working class lose benefits, it is damn hard to get them back.

Not enough debate, fuck, I have seen zero debate, about why we need to give more money to billionaires. Want to seriously reduce the deficit? Tax the rich.

We are going to feed the horse more oats so the sparrows have plenty to eat.

This bill is going to kill a lot of people, and Democrats need to frame it that way. This bill isn't about economics, it's about life and death.

Late 19th century Populists derided the fraud of trickle-down economics as the "Horse-and-Sparrow" theory: "Feed the horse enough oats, and eventually some will find their way onto the road for the sparrows to find.”

I’ve always heard it said that if you feed the horse enough oats the “chickens” will get some too. Old farming saying but sparrows work too. 🙂

Yet it seems like Republicans are doing this, so there is no doubt in my mind that the Democrats could add it all back if Democrats get united and elected.

...to make it look like they are paying for more of it now than they actually are. It's like planning your family budget now based on the hope that you'll get a raise in four years even though you barely even show up to your job today and are not particularly good at it....

The most wealthy have very low income multipliers. They mostly shuffle money amongst their own class very slowly. Some one in the lower quintiles spends their money fast and and often local. The difference in my 1980s economics text book was dramatic. The bottom 40% had an income multiplier of 11x over the following 12 months, the top cohort was 0.4x over the next twelve months. This is why the billionaires are so desperate for even more tax beaks as it slows economic growth and they can't hit their own financial targets but with policies like this it will remain a race to the bottom with a vast majority doing worse. Progressive taxation isn't to redistribute but to prime the pump for economic creation which has the effect of raising real rather than paper living standards.

the Billionaires and multi Millionaires..................when is enough, enough?????????????????????????

It becomes almost a psychotic obsession with so many of them..........

I think that it is tied to their knowledge, that if it were taken away from them, they think that it would lead to their demise.... It is the only way they can live. Plus it gives them an immense feeling of power..........
They constantly fear that if they were to lose it, it would be like losing food and water.......They seem to feel that they can only function/live having money, and they wouldn't have a glimmer of how to live any kind of life without it......They know no other way............

That is only a guess........ what do I know.......
