Story just came out about how Tesla refused to allow a buyout by leaseholders of their cars at the end of their leases. Excuse was to use cars as robotaxis. However...he then resold them to new owners at higher prices along with a few minor data upgrades. Huge amount of dollars gleaned from this scheme, a backhanded way to get even more rich. Unscrupulous acts along with ethically questionable transactions...typical Musk/Trump ways of doing things. And this piece of work has a foot in your government's day to day operations. JUST WONDERFUL!

(36,974 posts)If it is important to you to retain the vehicle at the end of the lease, make sure the contract allows it. If you have a right to buy the car at the end of the lease, he can't violate it unilaterally - without at least compensating you for damages. And, if this is a planned mass breach of contracts, a court would likely impose more damages for willful breach.
