Breaking news: Florida becomes 2nd state to ban fluoride in water

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill banning fluoride in public water systems on Thursday, making his state the second to prohibit the use of such additives in public water supplies. The ban will go into effect on July 1.

The Florida Farm Bill (S.B. 700) does not specifically say fluoride should be banned, but that "the use of certain additives in a water system" is now prohibited.

DeSantis had made it clear he planned to sign the bill into law, calling the use of fluoride in public water systems a "forced medication."

"Some people think they know better for you," he said at the bill signing, "that they should decree how you live your lives."

The bill passed the Florida House on April 29 and the Senate on April 16. Supporters argued that fluoride does not actually improve water quality and that discontinuing its use could save local governments money. However, the 27 representatives who voted against the bill emphasized the importance of fluoride for dental health.

Those people who want to go back to the 50s weren’t around back then. They don’t know what it was like.

Calgary re-introducing Fluoride after health declines

https://www.dentistryiq.com/dentistry/research-and-news/article/55248093/why-calgary-reversed-its-decision-on-fluoride-after-10-years

The Times article details what happened in Calgary after fluoride was removed: “multiple studies” showed that caries and caries treatments increased in children in the subsequent years. The number of children receiving IV antibiotics for dental infections at Alberta Children’s Hospital increased by 700% from 2011 to 2018. The majority of these patients were under five years old.

In a 2021 referendum, Calgary voters elected to put fluoride back in the water, and completion is due early next year.

One dentist interviewed by The Times observed “a rise in decalcification along the gum line,” rather than the usual decay on biting surfaces of teeth that is associated with a caries-producing diet. Other studies noted that more children required general anesthesia for their dental procedures during this time.

Of course, poor people can't afford general anaesthesia or IV antibiotics. Calgary (because it is in Canada) has free healthcare for all funded by taxes.

RFnKjr and Florida (ironic name) are basing their bans on a study that showed some problems with Fluoride but their results were poor because they were confounded by local conditions that are not applicable in the US.

RFnKjr wants to ban dentist fluoride treatments!
high-income countries such as Denmark and Belgium don’t fluoridate their water, but have better dental health than the United States. Both these countries provide universal dental coverage, including for children.

Because they do Ron! They're experts in their fields and interested in things like "public health". Who would have imagined that conspiracy nutters would be able to impact our citizens in such brazen ways as eliminating fluoride from drinking water and discouraging vaccinations. We are in the dumbest time line.

Several cities/towns in my area, including my own now are pushing for local ballots to remove it from the city reservoirs. It is only a matter of time before it goes statewide.

This is stupid, harmful, and no one has to guess the result. The result will be bad for public health. That's it. The only result that could possibly happen.
