Trump Faces Intense Backlash For Accepting White South African 'Refugees'
The Trump administration is facing backlash for its acceptance of white South African “refugees” into the U.S. while other displaced groups facing violence and persecution have been locked out of the country and stranded.
The reason given for Trump’s acceptance of the white South Africans, while Sudanese and Afghan refugees were denied, was that they would assimilate more easily into the U.S., leading many to accuse the Trump White House of racist hypocrisy.
Trump, along with Elon Musk — who was born in apartheid South Africa — have claimed that Afrikaners, who are the descendants of Dutch colonizers who ruled the country during apartheid in the last century, are the victims of a genocide at the hands of the majority black government.
Afrikaner author Max du Preez called the U.S. resettlement "beyond absurd," and said, "This is about Trump and MAGA, not about us. It's about their hatred for DEI. The people who have now fled have probably been motivated by financial considerations and/or an unwillingness to live in a post-apartheid society where whites no longer call the shots."
